Plymouth Projects

Jack Gailer (our MD) followed in his fathers’ footsteps as a steel fabricator and worked out of a small unit in Plymouth as a sole trader in 2011. Following increase in demand the business grew, in 2015 Westcountry Fabrication Ltd was formed.

Over the years we have completed many projects in Plymouth including:

Structural steel supply for local builders for extensions and loft conversions
Structural steel reinforcement for the China House balcony, Sutton Harbour
Fabrication and installation of structural steel for the Barcode complex, Brew Dog
Structural steel in the Royal William Yard for the Everyman Cinema.
Access staircases and safety barriers in the Devonport Royal Dockyard, Barbican development, Plymouth bus station as well as in local primary schools.

The China House, Plymouth

In April 2018 Westcountry Fabrication Ltd were instructed by G Oakley & Sons Ltd to replace rotten timber balcony supports on a historic grade II listed building in Sutton harbour, Plymouth.
17 existing rotten struts were carefully removed and replaced with 150x 150 x6 316L stainless steel struts with cross bracing on one of the oldest buildings still in use in Plymouth.
This building is the China House which was closed for refurbishment and due to re-open as the Miller and Carter restaurant.
The China House was built in 1605 and since used as a naval hospital, warehouse, a porcelain factory and more recently a restaurant.
The Westcountry Fabrication Installation team battled the tides and worked incredibly efficiently to ensure that the works were completed within 3 weeks, in time for the grand opening of the newly refurbished Miller and Carter Steakhouse on Friday 20th April 2018.
